Don't use the soap applicator August 25, 2010 edwardBe (California Gold Country) Works more or less as advertised, but just use the filtered water feature. The soap applicator doesn't generate sufficient suds to feel like the car is getting clean. Instead, mix a good car washing detergent in a bucket and wash your car as normal, rinsing with the applicator set on faucet water, keeping the car wet until the whole car has been washed and rinsed thoroughly. Then set the applicator on filtered water and go over every inch of the car systematically. Let the car dry in the shade as others have mentioned or do the process at twilight, and there will be no spots. I live on a dusty gravel road and sometimes knock the dust off with the faucet setting and then rinse will filtered water, saving a complete wash effort.
This Works GREAT July 30, 2010 A. Rao (Portland, OR) I was a little bit skeptical because... well, I'am skeptical about almost everything. But car dealerships have been using an ionized filtered water rinse for washing all their cars for a long time and it works great. So I took the $20 plunge.
It worked as advertised. It took less time that it usually does to wash my truck, took much less water, and importantly, I never touched my truck with ANY drying device. I rinsed it and it dried beautifully without even 1 spot on the chrome, windows or body! Perfect.
I have read reviews where people are angry that the components [soap and filter] have been discontinued but, I found them at Rite-Aid AND in bulk and in singles here at Amazon and at ebay. Some people need to be lead to the water and re-taught how to sip from the well.
All in all I found this car wash system to be exactly what it is advertised to be. More or less a system that removes the need to hand dry, and a water saving devise.
filtered water really does help with water spots July 3, 2010 Ken Liu I've been using this product for over 5 years now and I just bought my 3rd one (in no relation to it's durability). I also want to let people know that I am a moderate to extreme car care person so I might be a little more detailed or use methods not normally used. I use this product for it's quick water to filtered water nozzle, that's it. I don't use the soap because I use a better (and unfortunately, more expensive) product. I also use a wash mitt with microfiber "hairs" on one side and a bug and crap scrubbing side and a bucket of clean water and bucket of soap and water(my soap clogs the products soap dispenser). This product really helps make it easy to turn the water on and off at the thumb area. The water pressure is just strong enough to blast off any excess dust and grime with the first rinse. Doing a few body panels at a time, hosing off the soap and grime right away really helps with preventing spots on the car after drying. The filter water function is also the best part of this product. It is a bit tedious, almost like spraying paint on your car from the top down in order to ensure NO water spots. You can leave it as is after rinsing but I've found that sometimes, you miss a spot and water spots end up in certain areas. I go the extra step by using a squeegee and get most of the water off and then use a microfiber towel to dry the remaining water. I must agree with other reviewers that the filter really does not last long as well. The product says 10 uses but I highly doubt that. I have to replace it after about 4 to 5 washes and I think I use the filtered function as necessary in order to prevent water spots - top down method and spraying like a paint gun.
mr Clean June 28, 2010 Joyce Alcouloumre (Napa, CA USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I cannot review this product since I never received it. I receive my mail at a post office box, an option I was not given when I placed the order. I provided my home address to which I get no postal delivery. The product shipped on May 28 and arrived at the Post Office in Kona, HI on June 3.
It took until June 11 for them to discover that they could not deliver it to my residence in Hilo, HI since I get no mail delivery there. Since then, I have had no further contact either from Amazon or the company that shipped the product. I have also had no refund on my purchase. To say that I am disappointed is an understatement. If the Post Office is going to deliver the product, it seems to me that they could deliver it to a Post Office box AT THE POST OFFICE!
Product works, but discontinued & expensive to get filters and soap... June 26, 2010 John M. Walin (Libertyville Area, Northern Illinois) I would have given this item 4 stars, but I am really mad at P&G for discontinuing the Mr. Clean Auto Dry system. I just paid $90 to get 10 filters delivered to my door from an eBay seller. It does work really well on black cars, spots are always a problem even if you hand dry. I only use the device to spray unfiltered and filtered water while washing. I found the device to waste soap if you fill the handle with soap, so I squirt some directly soap onto damp clean microfiber car wash mop and don't fill the soap reservoir. Your soap goes alot further if you put it on the mitt instead of in the device! Those cheesey filters don't get 10 washes for me. Maybe I over rinse or my water is really hard, but I am lucky to get 5 or six washes out of the filter. My first point is don't buy this product! replacement filters and soap are double what they were retail one year ago! And as they become scarcer they will get even more overpriced. When I run out of soap I will use a good car wash soap and when I run out of filters in two years I will pitch the autodry system completely. Here is the worst part... These hillbilly sellers bought these parts from a wholesale liquidator at 10 cents on the dollar and now they are charging over the Kmart store prices.
